New Moon in Virgo, Eclipse AND Equinox - Energy Report

On 21 September there is a partial solar eclipse, aligning at the same time as the New Moon in Virgo, with Equinox energy. It's due to be visible in parts of Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica and the Pacific Islands - including Tonga, Fiji and the Cook Islands.
This combo of astrological energies gives a powerful window of time for new beginnings, resetting and realigning our lives into more of what we wish for.
The eclipse is aligned with the South Node in Virgo, which speaks to karmic release, letting go of old patterns.
Opposing Saturn (retrograde) in Pisces speaks to polarity in our lives:
structure vs surrender
duty vs letting go
practicality vs spirituality.
Release of Perfectionism & Need to Control
Virgo’s strengths are discernment, refining, ability to organise well, but with that comes being overly self-critical and fearful of imperfection. The South Node in Virgo here invites releasing the belief that you must be perfect. More feel the fear and do it anyway!
Healing Old Patterns & Karmic Weight
The eclipse asks us to let go of deeply embedded patterns that do not serve.
Some may be karmic, some ancestral. During this powerful window we can more easily recognise the patterns that have limited our ability to be fully authentic. With Saturn retrograde, there is also a maturity that enables us to face up to what we’ve been holding onto out of duty, habit, or fear.
Authentic Expression
This New Moon/Eclipse is not just about shedding. It’s about clarity in the real form your life work and purpose takes. Turn down the volume in your mind of all the "shoulds", the expectations of others, the "What will they think?" and ask yourself what lights you up? The answers may surprise and enlighten you!

This is a threshold time. Whether something is ready to finally be released or fully embodied, go with this energy rather than resisting it. Let go or be dragged!
The potency of the New Moon plus Eclipse Energy
A New Moon already is a time of planting seeds, setting intentions, new beginnings. When it aligns with a solar eclipse, the energy intensifies.
Beginnings are more potent, veiled energies are revealed, things that were dormant may suddenly awaken.
Eclipse energies often accelerate timelines, bring in unexpected changes, symbolic events.
Because eclipses are nodes of karmic/collective timing, what happens may feel larger, it can ripple out into family, work, community. We might sense events or inner shifts that feel “meant to be.”
Challenges we may feel
Destructive habits are being brought to light.
Our inner critic may become louder, the perfectionism, the “not good enough".
Eclipses often show what we need to release, but there may be a temptation either to rush change with a knee jerk reaction, or to cling to what’s familiar. Balancing discernment with courage is key. Allow what is highlighted to be revealed but don't rush into a decision.
How to Work Spiritually with this Eclipse
Some practices, rituals, mindsets to harness the energy:
Journal & Shadow Work
Identify perfectionist stories, self-criticism, beliefs that you’re not enough. Letting them surface gives you choice.
Release
A burning ritual is good for us. Writing what you want to let go of and burning it in a safe fireproof receptacle helps reclaim your power, but only when we stay consistent with our actions afterwards to support the intention!
Mindful Self-Care & Body Awareness
Virgo rules health and routine. It’s a good time to really think and notice honestly how stress or over-doing it affects your body or day-to-day routine. Build in non negotiable rest time where you decide what to do with your rest time only when that block of time arrives. No pressure.
Meditation
Use breath work, meditation, or contemplative practices to unclench that control. Trust what is unfolding even when you can’t see the full path.
Things to reflect on
There is strength in vulnerability, to admitting what you don’t know, what you can’t control.
Authenticity is always more powerful than perfection.
Being real, being present, being honest with what is and what isn’t working matters more than trying to create an illusion of looking like you have your shit together when you really don't.
Endings make space. Letting go of what no longer serves, all those old identities, old beliefs, truly makes room for what is ready to emerge.
Trust in your awareness to notice change. Some shifts will happen behind the scenes, some suddenly, some gradually.
Eclipse Ritual for Renewal & Release
Do this day of the eclipse or within 48 hours after, when the energy is still strong.
Prepare Your Space
Light a white or green candle (Virgo colours for purity & healing).
Have a bowl of water and a small stone or leaf to symbolize Earth (Virgo’s element).
Keep a journal and pen nearby.
Ground & Centre
Sit comfortably, close your eyes, and breathe deeply.
Imagine roots extending from your body into the Earth.
Say aloud: “I am grounded, I am safe, I am supported.”
Release What No Longer Serves
On a piece of paper, write down habits, beliefs, or perfectionist patterns you wish to release.
(e.g. “I release the belief that I am never enough,” “I release the need to control everything.”)
Fold the paper away from you and place it under the stone/leaf.
Say aloud: “I release with love what is no longer aligned with my path.”

Dip your fingers in the bowl of water and touch your heart, forehead, and palms.
Visualize yourself cleansed of old patterns and open to new possibilities.
Close with Gratitude
Say: “I step forward with clarity, compassion, and trust. And So It Is”
